David Pocock returns to Wallabies captaincy

Rebels back Reece Hodge has been given a chance to claim the vacant Wallabies outside centre berth for the Bledisloe Cup.

Hodge will line up in a backline featuring four Rebels teammates – Will Genia, Billy Meakes, Jack Maddocks and Marika Koroibete.

Most NSW Waratahs players will be missing, being rested following their Super Rugby finals campaign.

Having played flyhalf for the Rebels all season, Hodge will get the chance to impress in the highly-specialised role at outside centre where a Bledisloe Cup starting jersey is up for grabs due to injuries to regulars Tevita Kuridrani and Samu Kerevi.

While rested from this match, star fullback Israel Folau is also considered a strong chance to move to that position, having played there for the Waratahs previously.

Cheika named 13 players on an extended bench and, being a trial match, there will be rolling substitutions allowed. with AAP
